Educational Objectives:
The fields of smart cars, wearable devices, renewable energy production and storage, carbon dioxide reduction and utilization, advanced functional materials, and biotech health industries are mentioned as future growth drivers. In this context, chemical and biochemical engineering are considered crucial technology sectors within these future industries. The Chemical and Biochemical Engineering department aims to educate outstanding female engineers who can lead the knowledge-integrated manufacturing industry by providing substantial education in natural sciences and engineering, as well as high-level specialized education covering the core technologies of future industries.
Educational Goals:
Chemical and Biological Engineering is a representative interdisciplinary field based on both natural sciences and engineering knowledge. The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Sookmyung Women's University focuses on practical, industry-friendly, comprehensive, and female-friendly engineering education with a specific focus on future-oriented areas such as next-generation advanced materials, renewable energy, secondary batteries, disease diagnosis and artificial life forms, and multifunctional cosmetics. The department emphasizes the design, analysis, and control of chemical, electronic, and energy processes, as well as the molecular-level microengineering approaches required in these fields.
